Description
The McLaren MCL39 F1® race car from the Lego Technic series is another Formula 1 car and was released in the spring of 2026. The race cars design dates back to 2025, as new regulations took effect in Formula 1 starting in 2026, requiring all cars to be redesigned and rebuilt from scratch. Unfortunately, Lego has once again failed to include tires of two different widths, even though this was already a point of criticism with the Ferrari SF-24. Otherwise, the model offers plenty of details and functions. For example, the engine cover can be removed to reveal the V6 engine, which is driven via a 2-speed transmission to the rear axle. This also exposes the mechanism for the DRS function, which adjusts the rear wing. The model is steered via HOG behind the suggested air intake above the driver’s seat. As with previous models, many stickers are used again—which is a matter of taste—but we still believe the model deserves the highest rating.
